I changed my mind. This is no longer my slice of the American Dream pie. It is now just a place for me to bitch.

Not exactly channelling the Philadelphia 13, but the Iraqi Bill of Rights is out.

Well, the Iraqi Bill of Rights came out (though it reads more like an Anti-Semitic 9 year-old's Christmas list). Some of the choice parts of this Bill of "Rights":

An Iraqi may have more than one nationality as long as the nationality is not Isreali

The State shall take special concern with the physical, moral, mental, and cultural developmenet of young people.

The State shall guarantee for women the appropriate servicees related to pregnancy, childbirth, and the period after childbirth and provide her free health services.

The State shall guarantee the realization of social and health insurance for the child from his birth until he completes his university studies.

The State shall guarantee the realization of the social guarantee necessary for citizens in case of old age, disease, inability to work, or if they are homeless, orphans, widowed, or unemployed. (Guaranteeing a guarantee. Well that is ironclad.)

The state shall support...the families of martyers

There is no censorship on newspapers, printing, publishing, advertising, or media (Hey, there you go freedom of speech) except by law. (Oh, nevermind)

Iraqi citizens have the right to enjoy security and free health care. (More free stuff, yay)

The Iraqi citizen has the right to freedom of thought (While this good. How would they stop you from thinking?)

Okay, so the government of Iraq has promised to basically support their subjects from the moment they are born until they die...And they are calling them rights! I read the whole thing and there is not one section on how they are going to pay for all this free stuff.

Well put. I can't read or understand Iraqi but these guys have come a long ways from where it all started. I'm glad that they are trying to think for themselves. That is a right in the bill of rights.

This is just a rough draft so I imagine they'll discuss financing by the final draft. At least you would think. They should probably rename it though. There are not many "Rights" in there. I kind of like the sound of "The Bill of Some Degree of Rights"
