I changed my mind. This is no longer my slice of the American Dream pie. It is now just a place for me to bitch.

Breaking News

Hey, you guys remember Jason Smith? The guy we used to party with when we were 16...Worked overnight at Bakers. Well, Rachel and I ran in to his younger brother at the Anchor Inn on Labor Day, or Memorial Day I forget which order those go in, and he says that Jason is living in Council Bluffs now. No big deal. But here is an article from the OWH today:

Man gets 20 years for sexual abuse

A 30-year-old Council Bluffs man pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of third-degree sexual abuse in connection with an April attack on a woman in a Council Bluffs park.

Jason T. Smith, who had been charged with first-degree kidnapping, admitted to the lesser charges as part of a plea agreement.

Fourth Judicial District Judge J.C. Irvin sentenced him to 20 years in prison, said Dan McGinn, assistant Pottawattamie County attorney.

A woman Smith had met the night before was taking him home early on April 10 when he asked her to drive through Fairmont Park, police have said.

The 23-year-old woman told police that Smith had her stop the car, grabbed her by the neck, pulled her out of the car and then sexually assaulted her.

Afterward, they went to the Kwik Shop at 930 Fifth Ave., where the woman signaled to the clerk that she needed help. The clerk alerted police, who arrested Smith.

Whole thing here

I am not 100% sure if this is the Jason Smith we knew (I am sure it is a common name), but he would be 30 by now...And it does sound like his MO. Who would have thought that sweet little 21 year-old partying with 16 year-old kids would be thrown in jail.

I am flabergasted. He was always such a nice young man. Could be him. Look in to this Mike.

I'm outraged. That guy used to procure alcohol for me when I was a minor. There's no greater service you can provide for society. If he can end up in jail, I guess anybody could. It really makes you think.
